During the surprise visit, the Oscar-winning actor greeted pediatric patients in the USS Hope, an infusion suite, and went from room to room shaking hands and giving fist-bumps. Sporting shoulder-length hair and a beard, Cage also visited with staff members on the elevators between floors, posed for dozens of photos and gave out a few autographs.
Cage is in Mobile to shoot “Between Worlds,” an indie supernatural thriller, according to IMDb.com. He starred in two other movies filmed in Mobile, including “Rage” in 2013 and “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage” in 2015.
In the new movie, Cage will play Joe, a down-on-his-luck truck driver haunted by the memory of his deceased wife, Mary (played by actress-model Lydia Hearst) and child, according to Deadline.com.
Franka Potente, who starred in the first two “Bourne” movies and FX’s “Taboo,” as well as “The Conjuring 2,” will play Julie, who enlists Joe in a desperate attempt to find the lost soul of her comatose daughter, Billie (played by Penelope Mitchell of “The Vampire Diaries” and “Hemlock Grove”). But Mary’s spirit, determined to settle some unfinished business, possesses Billie’s body.
